Alex from Alex on Autos and EV Buyers Guide has a new video walking through a cutaway of the bZ4X and in it he drops a nugget that I hadn't heard about the motor configuration on the Lexus RZ -- namely, that it will use a pair of the more powerful 201hp motors from the fwd bZ.

That's different from the awd setup in the Toyota and Subaru Solterra which both use a pair of less powerful 107hp motors for a combined 214hp, and I guess means we should expect a combined 402hp in the Lexus.

He goes on to speculate about future versions of the Toyota that might mix-and-match with a 201hp motor in the rear and the 107hp motor in the front for a combined 300+hp.

I'm glad to hear this. Its a typically smart approach from Lexus/Toyota.

I've cued up the video so you can see the relevant part here.

Nice job finding this @goodbyeRX! I'm glad that the RZ is getting a power boost over the bZ and Solterra. It's a good way to help separate it from its Toyota and Subaru counterparts. Though it does make me wonder how that will affect range.

He did mention there being room for a larger battery pack but not sure if the RZ will take advantage of that to offset the higher power or not.

For me, longer range isn't necessary. But, faster peak charging speed at DC Fast Chargers is.
